Week 4 Blog Post : Jimmie Rodgers
This weeks blog post I decided to go with the song, 'Dreaming with Tears in my Eyes' by Jimmie Rodgers. When you start this song you get met with a upbeat banjo type of melody, it is a slower beat but the notes seem to be a higher pitch which makes it seem 'happy'. When the lyrics start you realize this is a sadder song. He talks about all of the broken promises that were made to him, and how he still wishes the best for them, but doesn't understand why he has to be lonely on warm sunny days. No matter how many times someone you love hurts you, you still want to be with them, you wish them the best, and in the end you still are madly in love with them. Certain things can happy during your day and can cause memories to be resurfaced when you're trying to forget about them entirely. When listening to the song, in the way he is carrying his voice you can tell he is hurting on the inside, yet decides to be happy on the outside and just trying to get through another day without them. 'Dreaming with Tears in my Eyes' shows that you will remember someone that isn't in your life anymore, it might bring you sadness which can cause you to shed tears, or they can bring happiness and comfort while in a dark place. Just because someone isn't with you anymore, you can still cry over them, still think about them, still want them. In the end the heart will ache for what it wants in life.
Hey queen I love the picture you really lured me in with that art, and I am here to stay. I really love how you covered this and spoke about heartbreak, because as Selena Gomez once said, "The heart wants what it wants." Keep it up Maleah.
ReplyDeleteI love when a song has a "happy" beat and sad lyrics like you said. I think that it is something that is super interesting and complex. I really like the way that you related the song to real life and how it can be sad sometimes or it can be happy.
ReplyDeleteI also chose this song! I really like how he stayed positive even tho his heart was broken. I really like what you said at the end. Those words were really strong and hit different. So thank you. You described this song very well. And I like how different songs can make us feel especially if we can relate to it. Great job
