Introduction Blog Post

Hey! My name is Maleah Johnson, and a little about me is that I actually have a prosthetic leg, and I love to play and/or watch sports.  Hanging out with my friends and family is a nice way to pass the time, or even just sitting down and reading a book, and watching TV series.

My favorite genre of music is rap and R&B, but my favorite time period for these genres is the 90's, the music is just amazing in this time period.  The energy that is brought out of the songs is just indescribable, it makes you think deeper than the lyrics suggest, or that the melody brings to the rhythm.

My all time favorite artist would have to be the rapper, Eminem, for so many different reasons.  One reason is that growing up he was one of the main artists my dad would play around the house, in the car, or at practice.  Eminem has been through a lot in his life, and it started when he was relatively at a young age, but it didn't get much easier as he aged.  When people think of rap, they think tons of swearing, bad messages, that its not setting a good example, or that it is even music at all.  When I think of rap I know there is a secret message behind the lyrics, almost any song has a hidden message, we just have to listen and understand it.  Eminem for me has always had hidden messages in his songs, even each album describes a hard time that he went through in his life.  My favorite album of his is a tie between Recovery and Relapse.  These two albums were released during the time he struggled the most, with the start of fame and his career, as well as with his family, wife, and kids.  He always holds a special place in my heart because of how he portrays his life in a way that anyone can try to understand, as well as being able to hear his story that he was able to transform into beautiful music.  Eminem has done so well that almost everyone knows exactly who he is either by a start of a song, or just his name alone.
